Spotted in my local Sainsburys-
Apostoles Palo Cortado 30yo, 37.5cl Muy Viejo reduced to £6.30

I have now managed to grab six bottles of these at the ridiculously low price of £6.30. If you are a fan of sherry I recommend you hunt this down, its divine. Just 'off-dry' with a bright, complex, nutty piquancy.

'A palo cortado sherry, a rare variety of sherry that is initially aged under flor to become a fino or amontillado, but inexplicably loses its veil of flor and begins aging oxidatively as an oloroso. The result is a wine with some of the richness of oloroso and some of the crispness of amontillado. Only about 1-2% of the grapes pressed for sherry naturally develop into palo cortado.

Average age of these rare Old Solera sherries is aproximately 30 years, 20 aged as vintage sherry and 10 in the "solera" system. All the grapes are from vineyards owned by Gonzalez Byass in the "Jerez Superior" area.'

I may have stumbled across Apostoles & Matusalem going for a similar discount (adjusted for inflation: ie £2.70 more)

I know you're going to tell me to get both to try for myself but if I had to choose which would be the preferred of the 2?
Is the Apostoles more savoury than the Matusalem?

The Matusalem is a sweet Oloroso I believe, and should be a step up in the honey chart. I would grab the off-dry Cortado as I prefer my sherry's on the dry-ish side and get my sugar hit from port.

Mel is the sherry queen, what say she?

If there are only a few bottles of each I'd probably grab the lot Shez, both usually sell for around £18.

There are 2 Apostoles left but I guess I should be able to swap any of mine elsewhere should I prefer one of the two
