Rich,
That Marsanne may turn out to be one of your 2012 top white bargains. A lovely wine, and was a favourite at the Riverside restaurant for lunch, when I worked in Chiswick nearly 2 decades ago. Lovely balance and mouth feel, (not dry) we used to have a decent drink at a client attended lunch in the ole days - different days, Eh ?
That guy at Tahbilk has been making this wine for years and years, some from old vines. An exceptional bargain because big T customers dont get it, except round here
- none in my store when I last looked.
I met him, the proprietor in Majestic one Christmas in the early 90's, he served Tahbilk Shiraz 1982, and an 84 cab, which held up very well against Chateau Gisgours '82 when we opened the pair at a pre-christmas Do, a week later Extraordinary guy, a huge amount of gleaming gold in his mouth, flashes as he speaks, very passionate about his old vines, some nearly a 100 years I remember, and the management of his land in the Goulburn Valley - this, before the Margaret river became so fashionable.
If you have cellar space, clear the lot.
