I found this wine last week in the Co Op is a small town in Snowdonia.

It was discounted to £10.99 but when I went to the till, most unexpectedly, another 20% was deducted ! So I went back for another.

Shez has given this 87 on cellartracker. I think that 18 months later, this very ripe Listrac has been improving. I'd say that is a much nicer claret than Rothchild's Listrac Ch Clarke, and, with a significant saving. However .....I have not had Clarke '03 for a long time, so I don't know how that wine has turned out. Full integrated oak and no autererity here - thank you very much

This wine has good structure and concentrated ripe fruit with fine grained tanins, that cut the palate very nicely. A lovely mature Listrac with cassis and cigar box to add to the petite chateau "Margaux" flavour you get with a good Listrac.

If you find this wine in the Co Op - Clear the shelf,

I'd say good for a few more years, to end 2014, depending on your cellaring conditions. Well done the Co Op :)

MrD,

In my local they have 6 bottles of Potel Santenay 2008 white Burg for £5.99. Will these be oak monsters ?

White Santenay '08, quite rare actually. Santenay sold in the UK is nearly always pinot noir - Go for it. Potel is never knowingly heavy on the oak.

I'd take 3 on spec. Nip in for the others, if it tickles your fancy.

G, I had a look around, about 5 minutes ago - A very quick search took me here.

Is it this one ?

From the TN dated 16/5/11, not quite your scene, although for me, the wine could be rather appealing. Knowing you, I'd take just the one 1st, and try straight away.

For the offer price, you have nothing to lose. White santenay would be another unusual wine to cross your palate, another experience.

LadyGogs has bought 4 and already decided who to give to as gifts. I did protest. Got me nowhere.

" Shoosh now, oak gives you a headache "

Ta for the link......a geography/appellation lesson with a tasting note on the end. :)
