Made from Pinot Noir.

Dry strawberry and chalky minerals giving it a white Sancerre like finish.

Very, very good and worth the money.

p.s...thanks for the Sancerre review Mel.

Last bottle we opened had a slightly musty smell and taste.

Any idea as to what could have caused it.

how long since the vintage?

was it like smelling old hymn books? perhaps corked.

did it lift after furious swirling? perhaps sulphur

being french i don't suppose there was any mention of winemaking on the back label, otherwise it could just be old oak.

pinot is sometimes quite undergrowthy, but if you had a first bottle, you know how it should be.

good to know tesco are doing something right - although not this bottle.

am going to their press tasting on the ides of march. will report back.

2005 vintage.

Unoaked

Old hymn books is a pretty good description of the smell....no offence to old hymn books.

It was still drinkable...just.

Slightly corked I guess, then. Any more like this and i'll take them back.

Cheers

G
