Thank the lord that there is a mini tannic and very minor green streak in this wine.
Home grown blackcurrants and more blackcurrants and more......and...... There is a minor green note, and guess what......That is crushed blackcurrant leaf and the brown callix at the pollenated end of the of the fruit, a bit of young bark maybe, bush stem and sap from the new and old oak used to mature the wine. The currants are all over it !
Well, this wine will need to be buried for five years, then the mocha/plain choc, mint and cigar box notes will peep through that overwelming currant hit.
Ole time OZ cab, as it was a while back before those crazzy yeasts and pudding ingredients were employed by Hardy's Crest and that sorta stuff.
Tastes a bit like Wynns on the grey & black label, Well, "let's put it this way", made in a similar style. Not too sweet at 18 months in, reasonable cut to the palate after the 1st flush, enough structure / tannin to keep it going for a decade.
Not bad at all - actually. Not too dense either. A cut above the norm.
