So I thought,
what the hell....... £11.99 less 50% less 5% if you take 5 other wines at Sainsbury's. A traditional & fancy claret label (silver and purple) that pulls the eye. Bordeaux '09
is at any level a nice wine from a very good, and very easy drinking vintage at the ultra cheap end. Can a bulk producer go wrong with the '09 fruit ?
£11.99 it isn't
Well, this is a blend from regions classified as Supérieur, or above, possibly ! Merlot - Cabernet Sauvignon - Cabernet Franc.
I think the cab S. is dominant, becaue the wine does have a lot of Chilean NW style blackberry / blackcurrant that is a touch sweet and a little soft on 1st opening. There is good acidity tho, and a very slight green edge to the fruit that gives it a bit of character.
I won't say more just now, cos I've only had one glass straight from pulling the cork, and then went to bed. We'd been out for a very late Italian supper at our local. I need to see if this wine opens properly this evening, but so far - no complaints for £5.69.
The producers are PRODUCTA (SOCIéTé ANONYME), and these are their more recent brand names on the EU database. You probably recognise many of them in the supermarkets. There was little else on the web about this new brand ! New wine ?
