I took one each of the Crawford and Southern Block. Would not have recognised either as SB, yet alone NZ MSB. Goose's suspicious mind I find to be justified. The Crawford Farm little better. A third of a glass of each last night. same this evening and remainder of both heading for the R.Avon. Washed out mouth and glass...next?

Could have been worse.

You could have bought the Runestone as well.

I think it was my suspicious mind. At least as regards the Southern Block. The 09 CF was really ok. Haven't bought a 2010.

Did you see the Ara ? I am hoping the CoOp cut the price in half and I will buy lots.

Shezza's note on the Ara Composite on CellerTracker looks about right. Nice wine but past it.

Mine wasn't past it but was fading. Hints of real class though.

I am not absolutely sure that mine was the Composite. Plain white label with Ara Marlborough Sauvignon Block written on it.

The '08 Ara Composite was watery tat, when I and staff at Majestic tried it. No pungency, no depth, weak fruit, no minerality...... just SB white wine, made in an inoffensive style, or evolved in that way, from the difficult '08 harvest.
Majestic were having trouble moving it. I think Shez was being polite on CT. However and to be fair, the wine could have collapsed between the Autumn last year and the 1st week of January 2011 when Maj were trying to clear it. It was on the tasting table at £6 quid off a pair. We tried it - Duh - Had It , or never Had It !

But this is not the wine you are discussing - Is it ?

Clifford Bay '08 was nice though & more than twice the price  With the '08's - You Had To Up The Anti - or drink youngest available from medium to half decent producers.

Was that intentional ? Or instruction already resident in the URL ?

Struth.....

Extraordinary recent reviews for that Ara Composite - 5 stars in April 2011. Maybe the wine has been in cold storage ! And has remained young ?

The clicky image was intentional. There are instructions on the BBCode Help page

May I suggest those reviewers do not fully appreciate a fresh MSB?

Perhaps it was not overloaded with fruit was because it was past it and has lost any pungency. A weak flavoured MSB, what is the point?

I feel I should review it on Maj website...
Though it's almost looking like I had a duff bottle tho compared to some of these reviews on there
