Bone dry, intense wine with citrus ( mostly lime ) and wet stones minerality. Unusual for a sb in that needs to be well chilled to bring out it's intensity.

Still more Touraine than Sancerre/Marlborough but very good indeed.

On offer at £4.99....not to be confused with CdD Valle Central which is poor by comparison.

Tasted ten CdD last week and planning to write it up today. Very impressed indeed. Tasting their Reserva Privadas (or Reservas Privadas) and spk on Wed night, with the Jacobs Creek Reserves.

I had a couple of bottles when it was on offer and I have rather enjoyed them. It is not a subtle wine, but it is very refreshing and has vigour. It has a new world straightforwardness, but it is dry. It stands up well to tasty food (but avoid pairing it with hot food: it has too much alcohol and not enough sugar for them).
Probably not my ideal of a white wine, and yet one with which I can happily spend an evening arguing and disagreeing like you do with a good old friend :) !

I wonder whether Bacchus has tried any of his bottles.

Tried ? All gone !
As noted by goose there is a doppelganger of this. I used to think that they were the same, just bottled differently for different outlets. This one is in the burgundy bottle. The other, in the straight, clear bottle, is not as good.

The issue of the bottles seems a bit confusing, for I am sure that it was the Casablanca that I drunk, but it was in a Burgundian bottle (not sure whether it was clear or not, but I remember that it had a green sticker boasting about this being a lighter bottle). Little misteries :?

Whoops, I think I had it the wrong way round.

Image Image

The one on the left is Casablanca, the one on the right is Central Valley.

Eight months on and I now elevate this to joint 1st with Cono Sur Vision as Chile's best sb.

It needed chilling when fresh but now is best served at about 12c to bring out it's subtle Wairau Valley like flavour which wasn't there when young.

Served too cold and it's just another drab, overly acidic Sourth American sb.

Now up to £7.99 but is on offer at £5.79.
