This wine is stocked by Waitrose.

I'd found some '05, and have enjoyed the wine hitherto, and made up the numbers in store with 2 x 2006 for the Summer promotion - £9.99 with 25% disco.

If you go in to buy singles, dont buy the '06. Silly at this full price. The wine is good on the '05 with a decent tannic streak, firm'ish, dark Syrah plummy fruit, with some licorice, earth, and dusty (as in hot rocks) and good acidity and texture, which I wanted when spending a bit more.

The '06 is poor, one dimensional fruit, not going anywhere, must drink-up the other one, unless the wine is sleeping for a while. I notice the '07 vintage is available on line - look for that in Store, and you'll be alright.

Rhone deals in Waitrose:

For Rhone lovers - Waitrose do have 30% of the Cave Saint Desirat Cuvee prestge Saint Joseph on the '07 at £8.54 or £8.99 in store, that is the wine to buy at the mo. The '07s are good and this wine producer, a regular in Waitrose on the same label, I have particularly enjoyed in the past.
Cuvee Prestige can take some bottle age, and improves in my opinion for quite a while.
