On offer for £4.99.

Good Marlborough has blackcurrant leaf and green pepper. This Chilean just has green pepper but is very nice.

Lovely aftertaste.

Thanks for the tip Goose.
Like GK, I looked in my M&S store as well, and saw none on the shelves. Hmnn.... Earth & Man on the label, it's a bit corny !, Yet the wine is great. Is there a cooler climate valley behind Casablanca ? The Chileans are working damn hard to supply fashionable SB for just over a fiver.

I will keep looking out - Goose, are you able to compare this to JE 2008 (currently on offer at £6.99 @ Majestic) yet ?

I still haven't tried the 2008 JE.

This website rates it as being very rich almost oaky.

http://www.wineoftheweek.com/tastings/sauvblanc.html

Jackson Estate 'Stich' Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2008 (sc) A toasty style aromatically with passionfruit skin aromas - that toastiness carries through to the palate. A soft, rounded style with a richness to the texture, the flavours are banana passionfruit, tangelo zest, summer herbs, a touch of honey and a bright tangy herbaceous finish. The toastiness does not come from oak. The favourite of six wines tasted together. $22.50. 13% alc. 12May2009.

Cheers for the web site link. Those notes are spot on for The Ned. Astrolabe - is one that I want to buy. I have Saint Clair.

I shall buy JE 2008 because Majestic can't find anymore 2007. I was a fool and did not score a bundle when I should.
When I go back for more of that 2003 Haut-Medoc CB, I shall buy.

Subject to the reality of the tasting note, for a casual Supper Party, the pair would be perfect.

Dunc, I just bought 4 bottles of 2007 JE as part of a mixed case from the majestic down the road from my office.
There were at least 2 cases of 6 there when I was there yesterday.

Lemme know if you want me to have a word about getting them shipped to your local....

Goodness me Dunc, dont you sleep?

At 1.25am Im aboard my yacht named 'Eat My Wake' drifting somewhere in the Indian Ocean, sipping cocktails with Rachel Weisz, whilst a scantily clad Nigella Lawson knocks us up something nice to eat in the Galley..... 'I say, anyone for Ping Pong?'

In colour as well GK :D

Hmmnn Yes, Nigella. Botticelli may have over egged the proportions , but his principles were without doubt, worth the all effort of his labours.

Yeah, I've been caught. In the office here till 02:40 BST. I was wading through a small company's accounts and tax. Sadly not splashing (wading) around with Rachel - Ha ha, I recon Dudley Moore got it all completely sussed out.

OK, we're having an Indian summer, so I'll do the numbers when the sun has ducked below the horizon. I run my own show, so I decide, yet I do need more quality shut eye. I did an all nighter last week - I know I suffer from flightless jet lag some week-ends.

You don't fool us GK. We all know you potter about your allotment shed named ' Eat My Turnip ' sipping rhubarb and gooseberry wine with Worzel Gummidge whilst a scantily clad Hugh Fernley Whittingstall knocks you up a quick carrot and trout souffle.

Just spoke to the guys at majestic here and they confirmed they still have a case of 6 bottles of the 2007 in store. I have asked them to hold on to it for me this afternoon.

When I asked whether they could get them transported over to the Reading branch they weren't so helpful unfortunately, explaining that they need to send over more bottles in bulk to make the half day trip more worthwhile...

No doubt you have a good relationship with your local majestic (this is my first transaction at this one as moved jobs only a month ago so I don't have any sway) so it maybe worth seeing if Mark can pull some strings for you.
Alternatively I'm happy to pick some up and hold them for you but not sure when I'm next headed towards Reading... unless you ever venture into town ever...

feel free to private mail me at work to discuss further

Mike

Got this in the 25% off everything offer. Cellar up to 13° so first glass a bit warm. This is an alternate universe SB. If someone had said it was a Sem or CB blend I might believe them. Very nice, but not the gooseberry, pepper, toms flavours etc. I await the arrival of cool...man...
