This 2008 Sauvignon Blanc from Curico Valley is good for the price. I am very pleased indeed to give it a recommendation. I am sorry that it has to travel from the other side of the globe, let's hope it arrives by sea.
I enjoyed the wine, which has a gentle nose upon openning, which is a refreshing citrus and pink grapefruit flavour without the pith and not tart, and a fruity grippy length....not astringent ! A gentle style, compared to 2008 MSB with typical SB faint nettle and ripe gooseberry notes, there is even some conference pear in there. Even nicer to my palate, after being open for 24 hours, when half of the bottle was put back into the fridge. Not a hint of sulphur or preservatives at all, and a pleasure to drink after dinner whilst watching Sheila Hancock side stepping Piers Morgan's tabloid style questions.
I like the wine, which is no doubt improved further by my total admiration of Sheila Hancock.
This wine is worthy of a Good score, and you may also feel better that some of the price will go to assist disadvantaged and sustainable communities in central Chile.
Full marks Waitrose for bringing a good product to our attention. A very good afternoon garden party wine at £5.99 per bottle in singles, and earning discount for multi-buy.
This co-operative at Los Robles also produce Reserve wines. Hmmnn, we shall see what they can achieve.
