I once bought 10 cases ( 60 bottles ) of Peter Lehmann Semillon from my local Spar for £2.99/ bottle.

The wine had 5 years bottle age and was sheer nectar.

The Spar had no idea what they were selling

The manager at the Spar keeps giving me free sample bottles of this that and the other in the hope no doubt that i'll buy another 10 cases of something.

This is good dry rose with perfect acidity but is no different to a lot of other rose's.

Worth a fiver though....would be a dream with a Chinese takeaway

G ~ How about a Loire Central Vineyards wine tasting, Mel....you've done Sancerre but not the rest. Pouilly Fume, Menetou Salon, Quincy, Reuilly. ~

Am just putting together my next list - as in today I thought "I really must put together a list". I have 2 weeks more wine, plus an interim week and it takes suppliers about 3 weeks to get the wine to me.

Will have a go but not sure some of the lowlier stores do anything like that.

Fair point. Only the specialists stock the likes of Quincy etc and they are rarely worth the extra few quid.

How about a challenge between the unheralded areas of the Loire, Jardin/HautPoitou v the Posh Nobs Sancerre/Pouilly Fume.

The Waitrose La Grille and Threshers Haut Poitou Regional Classic would take some beating.
