After slating this wine in my last post about Sainsbury and their TTD range I should clarify that Grove Mill is £9.49 and that in comparison this wine made by Grove Mill for Sainsbury is good value.
The wine is rich and full bodied and typical of the new style of Marlborough sauvignon that seems to be wowing the judges and the wine writers alike.
Most of these wines are expensive and if you like that richer sweeter tropical fruit style then £6.49 does indeed represent very good value.
Personally I prefer the lighter bodied but equally intensely flavoured green pepper and nettles style made famous by Montana, Saint Clair Dashwood Clifford Bay etc....so, I wouldn't buy this again as it's not a wine I like.
When I wrote the tasting note I thought it would be more useful to be constructive than just to say something like.." Sod this it's too rich "
Instead of moaning incessantly about Sainsbury...I shall boycott them until they cut the fake promotions or until they give me a free bottle of Krug with every TTD wine I buy..
Or until they have 25% off any 6 bottles again whereby I shall no doubt force myself to find 6 bottles of something...
In fact I rather like the Blondelet Sancerre....
