The wine was fine, just a bit rich and a touch sweet from the oak.
I've had much better part oaked Marlborough sauvs though.
Saint Clair Vicar's Choice is my fav 2006 but there the oak enhances the green flavours and creates a gorgeous green pepper finish.
You can smell peppers in the empty glass for ages afterwards.
This is more like Kaituna Hills Reserve. The wine is full bodied, rich with citrus and tropical fruit rather than nettles, blackcurrant leaves and peppers.
Just not my thing.

Montana Reserve 2006 is down to £6.36 at Sainsbury next week...have you tried it. The 2005 was excellent.
