Muscadet Cotes de Grandlieu, Domain Herbauges, GR Sur Lie '06. Sainsbury’s.
I picked this up a couple of weeks back when it had been reduced from around £6 to £3.49 and thought it was a contender for bargain of the year, factor in the current -25% promotion and the price comes down to £2.62 a bottle making it the outright winner for me. (offer ends Sunday).
Thoroughly uplifting, clean white fruit with a hint of menthol on the nose and the slightest of spritz in the finish. A very good example of melon. It is wine like this that could/should lead the charge for France against the budget New World plonk.
