This could definitely be the new Ned. It has all the right credentials. Mass produced, overpriced, very average example of a NZ SB but out of nowhere is somehow trendy.
Oz Clarke in a recent interview said that the owner of Mud House was a wacky guy, and a good laugh, so it's a social media upgrade that's causing a stir.

f they don't make it, they could be £2.99 a bottle, and I still don't want the damn thing. I will buy a few JE13 when next on offer. I only have the top flagship MSB's in stock just now from SC, VM and CB, and they are saved for wine indulgence evenings / wine afficionados dinner friends, Taylors Pass and Clifford bay '13 top the billing for Autumn evenings. There has been so much naff tat, and the general public keep buying it ? I think the industry now believes that the taste of tat is where they aim to corner the UK market.
For a dinner party, and I've only had the one bottle, this Yealands Estate winemaker's reserve Awatere G2 block 2012 on the Kelly-Washington signature is hard to beat, 5% new french oak - may not suit you, this wine tastes like original (not Stich) JE07 + a tad of french oak. These come up in bin end offers from time to time - if you see this discounted - grab with both arms
For a refreshing starter, I have been drinking the star Lidl white Beaune recently - P de Marcilly hautes-cote de beaune 2011. You would appreciate this wine G. exceptional minerality for the price, with balanced acidity to fresh fruit, don't be put off by the pale gold colour . . . . it is not one of them from the old days.
