It appears to be uploading from my hard-drive, I get a message saying my profile has successfully updated but there is a batch of 'warning' text where the header should be at the top of the page.

Clearly a tech glitch that needs looking at.

GK -
Have chosen one from the gallery 'til this is fixed it still aint displaying on my machine ? If showing on yours, it may be linking to your own computer's memory, and not resident on the site.

Interestingly enough, my Avatar (pic) was even showing on the prototype site in April, when all others were missing, how cool is that ?

Folks - You gotta have one that you generated yourself in monochrome

Old tech works best - actually I still can't see Mel's and your's GK ?

Bacchus's little blue Huckleberry character is up - thought he'd go for a Freddie Flintone look-a-alike at 1st.

Tribbs's zzzzz's avatar is also up and running now.

It is a site issue, but why it functioned for mine all of the time, and not for others may be to do with the original URL for you guys, the avatar being compromised on transfer.

Why Mel's is hidden is a mystery though ??? I'll do a test from a palm top which is blind to my actions on here.

Judging by the error that pops up when you try to copy the avatar, I am guessing there is a permissions problem on the location that the uploaded images are stored.

Either Duncan's is a link to offsite avatar or his was copied when the new forum was first configured. For now I will continue to use the martian. I never had an avatar on the old site. I have one ready for the new site, once the permissions are sorted.

Tribs your avatar was up when I looked in 20 minutes ago. It is to do with permissions. The site may be running on a wretched Windows 7 platform. Tribs, my avatar was edited here from a digital photo, I took the colour and resolution off the image to comply with a 60k image file, and then uploaded in good ole XP pro sp3.

Windows 7 for me is

Looney or a Marvin ?

You are loony again now - am looking at you from a Win 7 Lenovo idea pad. Your pic is back at 12:60

Not Win7 permissions - Have you sussed whether it holds when you log off ? I'm looking at the situation from 2 different explorers.

Ok I have added mine as an offsite avatar, which works.

It errors copying the image to Mel's site which suggests the permissions error is either the folder the image is stored (/images/avatars/) or with the php code that tries to do the copy.

Hey Tribs - Your image is more than 6k, I could not get the colour and res of that quality originally, way back in 2008 - Is that you mate - growing a short beard or just fed up with scraping ?

That php stuff is a Win7 permissions scenario, is it not.

Its just under 4K. I used MS Office Picture Manager to resize it.

'Tis me. I have a permanently short beard. I use a beard trimmer without the attachment (closest it'll give you) every 2-3 days. I think they used to call it "designer stubble" :D

I know nothing of Win7. I'm on Vista still here.

Dunc, I removed the gallery image when I tried to upload again, it deletes the existing avatar.

Will try loading one from asite, see how that goes...

There you go, and that's bigger than the requested 80x80p.

Maybe the limits only apply if stored onsite.
