Brett can be fab with a full and tannic pinot noir, and the fungus bloom appears stop when some sort of truce has been made.
The caviat tho, and based on my experience - with a fragile and somewhat acidic pinot, it can consume all fruit as well as the body and silky feel of the wine, manufacturing even more acidity to a point where the wine becomes quite unpleasant.
With good Cab, Shiraz (Syrah) and a few Merlots, the results can be a little more predictable, so we could say that Brett adds an extra debauched dimension.
