Trying to find a French sauvignon blanc for a fiver that has any sauvignon flavours at all is like trying to find a one legged, sky blue hippopotamous called Sidney who speaks three languages and plays the bagpipes.
The Gooseberry Patch at Oddbins is the best i've found in about 8 years of trying.
Subtle hint of gooseberry but it's a pale shadow of Montana and as Montana is often on offer for around the same price why bother with anything else.
Fournier Pere Et Fils Sauvignon Blanc at ?4.66 ( for 3 ) at Thresher does have a lovely wet stones smell but sooooo little flavour.
