Purchased from Aldi, part of their Christmas range of fine wines.For the price point (£15.99) this is quite disappointing. Plenty of acidity, a bit of tart raspberry and sour cherry and a hint of forest floor but lacks depth and the finish fades pretty quicklyIt's a shame because there's almost something there but it fails to show so I feel this isn't £16 well spent (which makes the fact I threw half a glass of it over myself last night after falling asleep with it on the sofa a little more bearable )
It's a shame because a good, elegant Pinot noir would be a great match for Christmas dinner. I've tasted a few nice Volnays in the past at wine tastings so was quite hopeful this would live up to the same standard.
I will be interested to see how well this sells for Christmas as I certainly wouldn't return for any more
