I'm sure it says serving suggestion on the bottle, but should the Oloroso be served chilled ?
and same for storage, is it to be kept in the fridge once opened or just somewhere cool and dark ?

Looking forward to cracking this open at 11am when I begin preping the Chrimbo Dinner :D

Are you talking about the Matusalem? It's an Oloroso Dulce and beautifully sweet. I'd definitely have it cold. Generally I'd serve dry Oloroso at room temp.

I try to keep all opened bottles in the fridge if I can. If you could see my pantry now you'd know it's not working. I can't keep up with the samples, despite giving away several to neighbours.

When I eventually get round to looking for a man I'll need to specify an ability to drink up wine samples. Don't think that'll be a problem, will it??!!

This is the TtD 12yr Oloroso
Will have a go slightly chilled and take it to room temp to see which suits

Haven't done a waitrose shop yet for the Gonzalez Bypass Mathusalem.
I did notice on Sainsbury's website they have 2 Gonzalez Bypass offerings:
Gonzalez Byass Apostles 30yr Very Old Palo Cortado
Gonzalez Byass Noe Sherry 30yr Very Old Pedro Ximénez.
12.49 each for 37.5cl bottle
(I see GK managed to do a David Dickinson on the Apostles a little while back securing 6 at half price and giving it a very good review)

So I should be sticking my reds in the fridge too? I usually stick them in the cupboard or back under the stairs depending on when they're next gonna be drunk
btw....anyone bother using Vacuvin vacuum closures or your bottles not open long enough to need it?

Wow, what I'd give to be one of your neighbours ! Any houses for sale over your way at the moment ?

Now let me think....that's a toughy about the man..... required to drink on a nightly basis....think you're gonna struggle there ;)

The last person in our house to ask for sherry or anything vaguely sherry like was put in the shed until it was time for her husband to leave and never invited back.

You'll all be morris dancing next and baking fairy cakes.

Sherry

Good grief

The Apostoles as the most beautiful drink. Did a sherry tasting in Harrogate last week and it was our favourite wine of the night. If you can get it at a reduced price go for it and tell me where.

Palo Cortado - actually, I don't have time - will go into detail another time as have painting to finish.

As said, is on Sainsburys website for £12.49 - 25% if bought with 5 other bottles so can be picked up for £9.44

Guess I'll be scouring my local Sainsbury stores to see if any have it in stock

Goosegoggs, you are not a wino if you don't like sherry.

Blimey !

I now have visions of Hyacinth Bouquet sipping sherry and listening to the vicar banging on about jumble sales.

G ~ dunces cap on and off to stand in the corner with a bottle or 3 of JE 07. At some point I may start singing ' i'll never be a wino ' ~
