A couple of years after mum passed away quite young, father began to come out of his domesticated skin. He introduced me to skittles and snooker after joining his work's club and began having a drink now and then. He liked a barley wine, and also whisky-and-pep. The funny thing was that he insisted on Bell's, and if the place didn't have Bell's, he'd go elsewhere !!!

I like Smirnoff and lime.

Whiskey and gin are foul. I once mixed a 1/4 pint of gin with 1/4 pint of red wine and added some whiskey.

Took me 8 days to feel normal again

:lol: quite a cocktail there - would I be able to find that on the TGI's cocktail list ? :lol:

Can only drink Vodka with tonic or as Caiporoska.
With orange juice or coke my stomach will revolt

Bourbon and Ginger Ale is favoured combo too

There used to be a great cocktail bar near Covent Garden, cant remember the name but have fond memories of Friday nights after work.... It might still be there.

There seem to be two distinct "gingers". Modern sweeter versions (some of which I believe have no ginger whatsoever in them). This like "lemonades" with no lemon. The other (American Dry I think) is more traditional.

I have Stones Original Ginger Wine 13.5%.

Pungent ginger flavour, hint of warmth but no burn. Keeps well. I opened it 18 months ago and keep it in the spirits cabinet. Tastes exactly as it did when first opened.
