So, did any of you try that Sainsbury claret or not....

I'm assuming not.

I don't know what you mean ~ whistles innocently and stares at floor ~ Sainsbury's claret is a lovely wine full of err...redness and more redness.

I can definitely vouch for it being red.

Probably.

Ive just got back, it looks like the promo has ended so I just got the one bottle of the 07 Rodet Burg to try.

I saw the Bonpas, just the '08's too in my store, not sure about the vintage, early days. I didnt get one but would be interested in your comments on the '07 M.

Dont want '08 Reserve Bonpas. Only want the '07 please.

However, phoned around, eventually somebody picks up the phone, there is a sweet lady at an old dusty store, I spend ages spelling out the name, ages.... she says that she can't say it like I do in French  This mini proper store in the centre of town where nobody can get a wretched car near the place to haul away shed loads of tat like Bonpas 2007 !

Guess what ? :)

I have to be there by 8:59 pm to get the disco, then they lock the door.

she's gone and filled up an old box and put it behind the counter in customer services - That is one sweet lady, with a sing song brummy accent too boot.

Damn you guys to hell and back !!!
I was doing my very best to not go and buy any more vino but thought it'd be rude not to go out and check the offers....

First visited a local Threshers that is on the cull list.
Complete waste of time !!!
everything on 25% off which is worse than their usual 3 for 2 offer. a few wines on 50% off but that still took them to just about normal price at most other retailers.

So I headed to Sainsburys....
25% offer still stands until c.o.b tonight
so ended up with 3 bottles of the 07 Bonpas (they had a shelf of pristine 08 botles and a shelf of shabby looking 07s). The remaining 10 bottles or so have every chance of hitting the reduced to clear shelf judging by appearance. So will have to see whether I'm a fan and if so may pick up a future bargain if I'm lucky.
Also added 2 bottles of Napa Valley Vineyards 2007 Chardonnay down from 9.99 to 5.49 which is a rarity
Final bottle was the TTD Albarino so I can put it heads up against the Martin Codax offerings under the stairs.

So all 6 bottles for a very reasonable £27

Now must stop this buying malarky as am not drinking near enough of this stuff - only just finished a bottle I opened on Friday night having had a glass every night (bar Saturday where I drank 2 bottle I took to a friends)!

Its beginning to sound like we could get a taste calibration going. Remember to post your notes on the Bonpas guys.

Sure thing GK, I'm lining mine up for an early assessment of the 1st one :) .
subject to analysis, the other 5 willl be make their way to an intermediate (temp wise) loft cupboard over winter, and may find themselves consigned to the bottom of a 12pk box wih the '07 Perrin in the spring - lets hope. Cellaring is so much pleasure when you find one that will improve for less than a fiver.

As with Shezza, space has become a problem very recently, as I am unable to select or remind myself of what is waiting in the racks for more immediate consumption, without moving 6pack wooden boxes.

The BP presents very well for £4.49 - screw cap but - Hey, you may stand them up for a while when space needs organising

GK - you could set a tasting night ?

Bugger.

Mel has none either.

This leaves a tiny hole in the forum's opinion.

maybe I should see what shipping costs would be to Staffs and Gloucs (Glos) and see if I can clear my local of its remaining bottles....

Always happy to help for those interested

Dunc,
I know you will still have to get to them but I can heartily recommend either Cellar Tracker or even just a spreadsheet to monitor your stocks and decide on what's next to be opened

I'd have to say that I think Cellar Tracker is one of the best things I've signed up to (beind present company of course ! )
