Open the JE well in advance of drinking. I opened another last night without doing this and the fruit was much more subdued. The body of the wine was far more evident.

I even got a vague hint of butter and would have guessed that the wine was part oaked. Twas still pleasant enough but too rich for my taste. So, unless you like this style let the wine breathe for a good few hours.

Looks like Shezza and MrD know exactly what they're talking about.

Who'd have thought it :shock:

I think it's quite impressive how much this changes over time from opening.

Being a buttery chard fan I really liked the texture in its early stages.
The Blackcurrent leaf it goes to tho is also very enjoyable

Still in shock that I made an accurate tasting note

Looking forward to picking some more of this up now....

yeah, unless you're thinking about opening it now and drinking into the early hours...or gonna consume the whole bottle and can leave it with the cap off for a few hours....

Can be drunk fairly cold but would guess optimal to drink it somewhere around 12-15 degrees (up to an hour in the fridge or so ?) just don't over chill it (preaching to the converted a bit there so I shall stop)

I aim for around 13c on all my sauvs. Unless specifically stated on bottle to chill then I go for about 10c.

Anything below 10c would kill a Loire.

Something pungent and tart like a Montana basic could probably handle 6 to 8. But even these are better at about 10 to 12.

Oxford Landing is best at whatever temperature it happens to be down the sink.

Actually, kitchen temp is fine if it's going in the frying pan to reduce.

Mr M. has just been with the JE. I received 2 x Bellingham CB in place of the KF (deliberate upgrade, OOS) and Esperanza in place of Errazuriz (mistake). Top off JE and aufrigo awaiting my attention - tension building now...

Well, the earth hasn't moved so far. So much more complicated than my regular SB's though. After taste, maybe some fried mushrooms and toms, maybe last weeks underwear. I love Vina Maipo GR and this is a whole new kettle of ball games. Need a drink now...

Interpolation from all your notes and the meandering about, indicates that The JE Stich SB '08 was never for you Ba ! Was it ? Why the hell should it be ? The pin stripe style, coupled with naked acidity can get bloody tiring in the volumes that you like to consume at one sitting. The Forrest Estate Stonewall 2007 and Vavasour's The Reach 2007 were a lot easier, more feminine, and just as good IMHO.

Yeah, this would have been much more of the style of your tipple ? As Mel has identified
