I need to be distracted or something.... been rummaging through Majestic's site.

Currently have the basket with 24 bottles in and setting me back just over £201.

I have other things I should spend this money on and enough wine to drink at home for a while

The little voices in my head ( ) are telling me that the deals on all of these are too good value to miss though...

must....resist.....checkout....button.......

I am some times stricken by the "buy" syndrome. Bit like a woman with shoes (sorry Mel). Was heading towards 200 at one time and still thought that I needed to buy, buy, buy. Help me Rhonda.

I can't wait for my 2008 JE to come from MW. I intend to let the wine breathe for a few hours in the hope that this will blow off the effects of the skin. I will then very lightly chill it and consume slowly making happy noises.

I thought only cheap badly made Marlboroughs had the skin/pips/stalks chucked in with the juice. What are JE up to.

Am spending tomorrow at Majestic and will have loads of tasting notes to you by the end of the weekend, if that helps.

Never do anything at night. Tomorrow you'll be in a better position to make the decision.

Also, NONE OF YOU should ever go direct to the Majestic site but should always go via QO, so I get the 35p,

Goose, after checking out JE'08 please make comparisons versus The Ned '08. I have had another Ned 08 with 8 months bottle age recently - it had settled down considerably - but I didn't think quite as classy as ** '08 in my book at this point in time.
JE vineyards are older, aren't they ?

Hey...Don't give me that skin & pip stuff again - pleeeeese - just surmising on Mr Shezz's note and rationialising for my own taste buds, Ok

Mel at Majestic today, looking for stars - decisions...decisions.

:?: The benchmark moves around from vintage to vintage - a minefield !

Fear not, I didn't pull the trigger.

TBF I tend to make a list online and then go down to the store for a mooch and a chat with staff

However, if any online purchases are to be made they will be going through QO fo' sho'
Can you only access the mmaj & tesco links via the "/searchoffers" page ?

Well Shezza, thank you for exposing your selection before the panel today.

Now let me see

Ha ha. The Catena Alta by 6 single layer chardonnay boxes are amazing quality, aren't they ?, jointed at the sides even, with plywood top. The size is a bit weird for stacking with traditional sizes - I don't know the Chardonnay wine inside and should jolly well find out. Currently have Puligny and Vouvray (champ size bottle) lying in one of these.

I will explore your choices, most interesting.

the Alta Chardonnay is very nice. Never bought but always gets a visit from me at the decanter tastings.
I think the Catena range is great across their who price range

Can you post the PF note or say which one it was and have you tried the Cazal Viel rose...

I might pop in for 6 wines tomorrow. I have 12 on order 4 JE 2008 and 8 Cazal Viel. If I had known about the PF..... That said I think the Perriere Sancerre at Sainsbury is stunning and all a man needs as regards the Loire is concerned.

Pouilly-Fumé 'Les Griottes' 2008, Jean-Pierre Bailly - Majestic
£11.99 Buy 2 bottles save £4 £9.99

Green and refreshing nose. Lovely. I’d like a room fragrance like this, or a scented-candle. Lovely taste as well. Clean and fresh Sauvignon, but with some ripeness and a long fresh finish. Very good.

12.5%

Cheers Mel 8) ,

I like the sound of that; And My Misses Loves Pouilly-Fumé - so spending is endorsed by management !

Some ripeness
Fragrance
only 12.5%
Lovely taste
Longish finish
Breaks the tenner barrier.

I'm in for that..........
