feel your pain mate. Mine's been dull as hell.

Off to pub soon and have organised a game of cash poker for some clients and friends tonight at a local bar so my day could potentiall get a lot worse....

At least I'll have a drink in my hand

Ditto. Love Fridays. Frantic tidy up first thing. Cleaner comes at 9.30 (I tidy so she can get to the dirt, rather than letting her tidy into the wrong place, or wash up by hand, and not because I'm embarrassed of the mess). Then usually write an article and then doing weekly slot on the radio during drive time. Taking kids to their Dad's this evening and an evening alone. Looking forward to it. May paint the dining room walls with help from a bottle of wine (no, not on the brush, clearly), or may just veg all night in front of the whole week's Criminal Justice.

Then doing a skid pan thing tomorrow morning.

Have a good one boys.

Yeah Fridays are good, but this week, stuff has piled up. Right now I have to sign off a load of jobs - including a client's VAT Return.

Mel, I was thinking of that gathering of the disorderly Clan. We should bring lunch with us, and say hello at your place ....If you'll have us ?

Just tell us what goodies you want us to bring. Then we have a great nosh and good laugh. Enjoy a glass or two, that we shall bring (you get to keep all the left overs :) . Then we clean and tidy up after lunch, and leave you in peace. I like Stroud.

Apart from Shezza - v. sorry mate. You are equi-distant from most of the other reprobates. I could bring a bib & high chair and tin of * ambrosia creamed rice for Ba........

*Dunc ducks for cover

the whole week's Criminal Justice What's zat ? Am I missing something.......now Ba - here's your chance

what radio station do you do your slot on Mel ? I'd be interested to see if I can have a listen via the web

Have fun with this.
Something I've been meaning to do. Looks like right good fun!
I'll keep out on those police chase TV shows for a crazed driver doing doughnuts and handbrake turns in a rover estate or silver Alfa 159

Actually, Stroud would be a better bet. Who is the furthest. We could all supply a bottle and something nice to eat. Bacchus will need to give us a list, or bring his own chicken breast in white sauce and tinned fruit cocktail.

Perhaps if you regulars email me (mel at the website name) direct, then we can take it off the Forum.

Excellent.

:D I take it this is regarding the wine tasting thread... ?

My Friday: Bored at work but looking forward to picking up a big fat steak for dinner tonight.
Sauce = none (the best accomaniment for a steak is more steak ! Altho I'll sometime draw for peppercorn sauce)

Decisions decision on which bottle to pop to go with it...

shorlist I think:
Malbec: Catena 06 or BenMarco 07
Shiraz: Waitrose Barrosa 06 (a Mel fave I believe)
Blend: Flagstone Dragon tree 06

even after Mels say so in the "if there were only 2 grapes in the world" I'm finding it tough to give PN priority over any of these (altho if I had a Cono sur 20 barrels I'd consider as it had strong tannin when I tried it that would work well with the proteins in a nice bloody steak)

I will let a forum vote make my decision....

Barossa Shiraz is beautiful but perhaps too sweet for the steak. Don't know the Catena Malbec.

Flagstone gets my vote.

So that's 1 vote for Dragon Tree....

TBF I think a lot of them are quite sweet. the malbecs tend to have the raisin/choc flavour that can be a bit sweet but tends to go well with steak all the same (just read your 06 benmmarco review which you said was sweeet and not sure what to eat with it)

The last bottle of Dragon Tree I tried I also found rather sweet but think any of them will work

maybe I should just open them all - just to see which goes best of course... :D hic...

In answer to various questions

BBC Radio Gloucestershire - drive time show. Generally 5.40 or a little later. Steve Kitchen show and is available on listen again.

Criminal Justice has been a daily drama this week with Maxine Peak as (have watched just one, and so may turn out to be wrong) the very nervous wife of a v controlling Matthew McFadyen (?sp) who stabs him in bed (with good reason, I think). I think there were four or five of them.
