Stunning wine reduced from 10.99 to 7.99 at Majestic. Seems expensive but a bargain in my view and 2000 is an good vintage.
The best rioja I have had in years and I've had a few. Strong at 14% but doesn't taste like it is. 8 years of ageing have developed complex vanilla, oak, caramel and meaty overtones wrapped in a velvet glove. Perfect for those warm summer evenings.

Yes, I tasted it at their recent tasting - full notes to follow - and gave it a star.

Rioja Gran Teserva Torre Aldea 2000

Brick colour. Sweet and savoury aroma - typical Rioja. Fresh acidity and sweet vanilla flavour which lasts. Smooth, velvety tannins. £7.99 is a steal.
