Hi folks, hope you are all well, I was surprised to see the site still operating but glad all our tasting notes and input is still available to view.

I've noticed the supermarkets are offering 2.25lt (3 bottle) boxes in red and white, interestingly they claim the wine will stay fresh for six weeks due to the internal bag design. Six weeks in the fridge would be a challenge, not sure about the red tho.

Anyone tried them yet? Obviously I'm not expecting them to be wonderful but a decent glugger might be useful, especially when you only want a midweek glass before dinner.

Ha, I’ll have to pass too. But not because I’m being snobby but because I’ve limited fridge space at the best of times and have more than enough to get me through the week
I’ve heard that some of the bagged/boxed wines are getting better and I think they’re quite popular in France (?) so might be good to give it a go, especially it does really keep that length of time.

Thanks Shezza, I have a family BBQ planned this weekend, I'm thinking of sticking one in the fridge for those who simply like their wine cold and alcoholic. I'll get to try a glass.

I've read Chenin Blanc is a safe bet.

I bought the Morrisons Soave, it was easily emptied at the BBQ and it appeared to go down well. I had a glass, the best i can say is- it offered no faults or surprises.

If it was served well-chilled in a pub, you'd have no complaint.

I did buy something else..... my daughter is now 18yo and her gaggle of scruffy friends like a cider. I stuck a couple of Country Manor Med Dry Perry in the fridge, £5.75 for 3ltr (boxed), cant grumble at that
Gotta say, it was rather nice, if you dont think of it as wine, which of course its not. Fresh, flat cider*, best served as cold as you can, roughly 7% alc. Ebenezer would approve.
