Right,

Now, this is a lovely little nibbles starter. Not stupidly expensive, and dead easy.

Find a half decent burgundy, vintage '05 or an '09. Or a Leyda valley version with some bottle age, an '08 possibly, you have to look, or dig one out of your own cellar / cupboard under the stairs, if you keep one. You may have crusty Bread that is a day over, then cut into thin slices. Find a small pot of duck pate' and some fresh ground pepper to taste, just a tiny sprinkling. Decant the pinot noir for an hour while you mess about, sticking up cards and stuff.
Toast the bread to a golden hue, while warm spread the pate and lightly spinkle with pepper, no butter needed, no salt please, spoils the effect. Find some large bowl glasses and pour the pinot to a third full, sniff swirl, sniff swirl, and ~ ~ ~ ~ Off You Go.

Classic and wonderful.

Merry Christmas to you lot.
