The Champagne crop grown during the end of the war (ww11), Good vintages in the post War years they say. I wonder if the growers were expecting to be celebrating in the November. Harry S Truman (April 45) had his generals reserve a few cases, en premeur
Churchill's favourite was known to be Pol Roger - he appears to have had a special cuvee produced, which still exists today. At the beginning of the 50's, rationing still existed, and you couldn't easily get a fresh egg, unless you had hens in the garden, but by the time we get to 1956, well now, the '27 Port is wheeled out, is that a good vintage GK. You know your recent Port wines.
Glory years for Wolves, the directors were certainly living-it-up. Was this a golden era for your club GK ?
