I've been increasingly disappointed with relatively inexpensive, and not so inexpensive, champagnes. Are they being overproduced, with a consequent impact on flavour and quality?I've tried most of the normal makes over the years, and whereas Moet, for example used to have the rather creamy, vanilla flavour that I like, the last couple of bottles were essentially a pleasant sparkling wine, but no more. Others have been similarly disappointing.
Any recommendations of a champagne that is worth having, but isn't so expensive as to have to save for special occasions?

Sainsbury's Blanc de Noirs (not sure if it's labelled TtDor not) is streets ahead of all the stuff commonly flogged at "half price" and the boring big names like Moet. £14, I think.

Thanks. I've tried most Champagnes at around the £20 mark, and under of course, and some over. Memory is a funny thing, but I'm sure that the quality was higher. I'll try your suggestion.
