The Ned 2012, discounted to £7.99 in Waitrose

Spritz Fizz dominates this wine at the moment - For a new release - nearly zero pungency, the Misses said citrus nose, when a centimeter away from the wine ! No tropical fruits, no passion fruit, very linear, very gooseberry, and typical gooseberry acidity, but not offensive, not catty, not tart, so it is balanced. As close to Heinz 59 Varieties as you can get.

Mel gave the wine a Star. I don't agree, but then again, 000s of bottles can be different !

I can't really TN this wine, there is nothing negative, but then again, there is nothing worthy of a remark. Nothing different, no personality, perfectly good, yet perfectly boring.

Based on this purchase 13/02/2013, one of the few times I would dissagree with Mel. No star from me, but considering the huge volume out there in the stores, variance is bound to occur.

Reliable, I will buy again only for other people - nothing to knock, except ........ .....

This wine is distinctly better on day3. Is that spritz fizz a natural element in this wine ?

Went into Waitrose and bought a great big fresh chicken.

On the way around, I saw Ned 2013 on offer for £6.66, Not following my instincts I stupidly picked it up - thinking well, no harm it's cheap enough.

No Harm ! - One of the worst £6.66's I've spent in a very long time.

Grapefruit, more grapefruit, and even more, not very nice tart yellow'sh grapefruit, then a boxwood note, then nothing ! Except a slightly bitter twist to the pith.
Texture is horrible, too much acidity for the skinny fruit, the taste of very young vines - Not nice. If you get one of these, and there may be 000's in the batch from the ever expanding Brent Maris landscape of huge vineyards - You may be sorry.

I was.

Other bottles may be acceptable, but I'm not going to bother trying to find them.

The Ned MSB 2013

TBF, day 2 was a bit more satisfying, but having been told that the sauvignon blanc vintage in Marlborough was good, this is not going to attract that many Pilgrims of the style. Cheap, when on offer and not girly, so that is a positive observation for some folks.

£9.99 full retail, so you may want to try other versions.
