For those of you who like Gerwurztraminer, Majestic have just taken in a parcel of Vinas del Vero Gerwurztraminer 2009 (from Somontano in northern Spain). At £5.99 you won't be disappointed. They should have it on the tasting table.

The problem I have with Gerwurtz is acidity. Its often too low due to the grapes naturally low level and when it is harvested. It needs a decent Producer who knows the grape and region.

I would drink more but I have had too many dissapointments. How did you find this Paul?

No secret...the way I know this wine is that I sold it to Majestic as I work for Gonzalez Byass who own Vinas del Vero. We had a bit of over supply and Majestic took it. Normally this wine would be twice this price so it is a genuine deal...I am buying it myself from Majestic as it is cheaper than he staff list!!

Tanners also stock this wine. Also these folks:

There is an award for the '08. Paul, are you able to say anything about this wine's acidity ? Ba, if you get to this wine 2nd, please also say.

Cheers

Got a couple on order earlier though not yet confirmed in stock.

The forum search box has gone mildly geeky...

Cheers. Having snared the '09 VMWR for 9.99, I'm looking to add a few, but like GK, if it is too soft - I shall divert.

It does appear to go geeky, if someone else is on it (which I was), and I usually make a bigger effort and put in all the words, and find it working again.

Hi Mel .....geeky - Well ....Err no.

I did a lazy search for

VM Wairau Reserve, and the search engine found 00's of Reserves.

I then made an effort and did an unexpurgated search for Villa Maria lardy dardy da - and the results were spot on.

Duncan,

Referring back to your earlier question the acidity is 5.15g/litre and sugar 12.5g/litre.
