Can someone remind me how I make my photo less than 6 Mb? It's not just a case of making the dimensions smaller, is it?
Hi Mel,
The properties of your embeded image on the site must comply to this:
Displays a small graphic image below your details in posts. Only one image can be displayed at a time, its width can be no greater than 80 pixels, the height no greater than 80 pixels, and the file size no more than 6 KB.
Aproximately - one square pixel = one bite of file size in windows OS
Therefore, as discussed yesterday, if you want your avatar to be resident here, you need to reduce your digital image to 6,400 bites (6.4KB)
I use Microsoft photo editor in XP pro, Photo editor is in Vista and Windows 7.
0pen the image, and crop it to the pic you want, and then resize it. Then check its properties in MS photo editor, the properties and size are shown in the window that appears on the screen, whilst you do the editing. The properties and file size are picture frame size are shown in cms, and the file size is in Bites. When I did my permanent one, I had to go black & white to get down to 6K for that frame size. Mel your first pic here as a younger women was in colour but a smaller frame, yet resident. Your next pic, which was bigger, I believe you hosted on Photo bucket or some other photo hosting place on the web.
I take it that you now wish to host the pic here, so that it is not lost when you completely update or redesign or revamp your web site.
Hope that helps.
