Hi All

I am a recently joined member and would like to introduce myself.

I thought I'd post here because there is no obvious place for an introduction.

I am almost obsessed with bagging wines on offer and having been using this site as a resource for quite a while. Hopefully I can now make a contribution also.

My wine taste is varied. I like Old and New world reds alike and I would generally go for MSB for whites. If I had to choose a favourite wine I would probably go for Rockbare Shiraz (any vintage) which is not available in supermarkets.

Recent wines that have really impressed would be:

Tupungato Cabernet Malbec 2008 M&S
M Chapoutier Belleruche CdR 2007 Majestic
Marlborough Estate Reserve SB 2009 Co-op

GK - The Belleruche is a wine with a lot of finesse for such a low price tag. I hope you enjoy it. I enjoy other whites too (Vouvray is a fav) but tend to go for reds.

Dunc - I have indeed skulking, whilst contemplating how to make my first post.
Rockbare Shiraz

Goosegogs - I did indeed get this on one of your reccomendations, which was a very good one. It was only £4.99 (not offer price) but I have not seen it in Coop for a few weeks which is a shame.

I'm looking at Barossa Shiraz also Clare and Coonawarra on the '06. Will be definitely worth putting some of the good and energetic ones out of sight for a while.

Apparently Burvill learnt his trade at Penfolds.

I finished my last '06 a few weeks ago. and it was fabulous. The vintages are very consistent and drinkable pretty much as soon as they are available over here but a wine of this size will always benefit from a little rest. It is easily big enough to handle the 15%. In fact they make a wine for M&S but its watered down at 14.5% and it shows. It's still a fair wine when on offer but you can get the real thing for the same or a little less than the full price. The alcohol is more noticeable in this weaker wine than the 15% one.

I have a single bottle of his Barossa Babe Shiraz 04 which I have not tried before. I will let you know when I decide to open it.

Don't laugh but Asda's Extra Special Coonawara Cab Sauv '06 is a very well made wine. Its made by Katnook I think. The '05 got a Silver Decanter but I reckon the '06 is better. Well worth the £7 and a must buy when on offer.

Ive just noticed that my local Indy stocks the Rockbare Shiraz, £10.50 a bottle, sound about right? Will check it out.

Also see from your chart there Mr D that the Yarra PN gets a 9 for '05 & 06 vintages.

GK - I have bought from various online merchants (whichever is cheapest at the time) usually for between £9 - £9.50 but then there is the delivery charge and you have to buy at least 6.
