One other point of interest, the field behind the furthest tree line (in front of church, to left) is where the Staffs Gold was recently found.

Was playing bridge online last night against 2 ozzies, and told them of our weather. "Hotter than a roo's ass in hell here" was the reply. I wondered what roos drink to achieve that.

No knowledge of Mr Jarman I'm afraid, including my colleague from Gloucs Bridge Ass.
BTW two bridge pals have a canal boat parked at Saul.

A married couple we know well, have their modern narrow boat on a pontoon in Caversham marina, they are looking for a new mooring on the Thames nearby.

Local Authorites have decided to cane dwellings on the river. The only dwellings they don't cane are - Yes, you got it. The Thames Conservancy moorings are as rare as hens teeth. I wanted to warm them up with Christmas cheer, but to no avail - they are also very busy with teaching, as well as river life are, as snug as a bug in a rug.

My lot did 1200 miles, and 800 locks over the summer, complete with ship's cat would you believe. Visited son in Sheffield en route.

I have done the Llangollen canal, many many moons ago.

I have no idea if all the wonderful waterside watering holes have survived - Hope so.

All the Llangollen locks were unattended then, and all were run on right arm and back power :)
