In 364 stores
Ripe and waxy nose. Intense and pithy flavour. Jeepers. Really tangy and fabulous, if you like Semillon, which I really do.

I'm confused (again). What is the difference between the one with the strange face on the label and the "Wildcard"?

I think the Wildcard is a blend of semillon and chardonnay.

I prefer my semillon to be blended with semillon.

No Wildcards no chardonnay

Our second mention on Sat Kitchen this week.
This to go with pan-fried John Dory + fennel+caper dressing.
The third guy cooked some normal food (venison) and got a Muya Syrah (Chile). This was described as a cheap alternative for N.Rhone goodies. Smells of roast meat, spices, flowers etc.

Yum Yum, pan fried John Dory and the PL semillon '05. I shall park that one for a special supper. Cheers for that Ba. I would keep the fennel and capers fairly discreet, so as not to knock the PL and JD on the head. Rye bread or rye toast with that (Rye without carraway seed, mind)

Next...I have now the weird-face to try, plus a PL "Back to Back" Sem ( also Barossa ). No mention of that one here. No mention on the PL website either.
Any knowledge quaffers?

Looks like the fairly new low alcohol one being sold by Tesco for £3.99. The proper PL semillon is far better.

£5.99 does not buy you a better wine anywhere

Well done Goose, it's in there, but it's not low alcohol, wasn't keen on that one. In fact it's 0.5% up on the "face". I look forward to trying both.

Semillon is often low alc. In the Hunter Valley it's usually 11.5%.

A huge relief and I echo the post about this being one of the best things to do with £5.99.

I wonder if there may be some chemical / atomic connection between Sem. and reds, 'cos I found this almost undrinkable. Not as bad as the Denmam, but after 2 glasses at differing temperatures needed to blend it. I really like some of the blends though and look forward to the See Saw next.
Next year the Henschke.

It is quite "phenolic" and chewy, and so like red. Fair enough.

fantastic, marvelous, t'riffic!

that should suffice as the tasting note but if you need more read Mel's original as it is all the things in abundance
the bottle age has given it a nice stinkiness to the nose which I like too and a toastiness on the palate at the end.

Half a bottle left for tonight and 1 more in the stores then that's it. Wish I had more now as I'm loving it
