hello and firstly, having just discovered this site, it looks tremendously brilliant and useful... thankyou. i'll definitely be using it in future.
secondly... this is probably a big and very cheeky ask, but i found you as part of my search for wine for our wedding in september. my future in-laws are thinking of going to france to buy from the supermarkets there. in any case, no pun intended, i was hoping for some advice on good (value) wines. we're looking for (i think!) prosecco to start, a rioja-type red (our favourites tend to be muriel, bodegas palacio - but they're a bit pricey to bulk-buy) and an unoaked white... plus a champagne for the toast. any advice you can give - on which wines to get, and if it's really worth crossing the channel to get them - greatly appreciated!
thanks so much in advance - even just for reading this; i won't hate you if i don't get a reply!

I'm going to have to pass this over to the rest of Forum readers because we live in the South West and so popping over the channel isn't really an option. However, I think both Tesco and Majestic are over there, so if you look at their wines, by using the Tasting Notes search and putting in Tesco or Majestic, you'll get an idea of what's good there and can take a list over with you. Marques de La Concordia is often reduced to a very reasonable price and the dark blue label is very handsome and looks expensive.

I think Majestic has a Calais part to their website, so you can check it out. By all means if you find something that looks good on their site, ask me about it and other Forum members may put in their opinions.

You know Tesco have a wine festival on at the moment? There are quite a lot of half price wines. After the weekend I'll be having a banner to link to their site, so if you do decide to order from them online, please do it via this site so I get 27p commission, or something!

Genius, thankyou. From my initial search looks like it'll be the rioja reserva marques de la concordia, nautilus sauv. blanc and veuve duval leroy NV, all from majestic france... (saving about £2/bottle on uk majestic prices in each case - which adds up on this quantity - plus £70 off or free ferry crossing). just dashing out to catch our local uk branch to test 'em out!

Thanks, but haven't yet linked up with Majestic. When did you say you were going across the channel? Could see if I can do the link, if there's enough time.

Hi - won't be going to France till the summer, so hopefully plenty of time for a link-up. In the meantime, anyone buying from Majestic should know they can get an extra 6% off via cashback site quidco.com. Not sure if this works for the French site too, but it might - worth a try anyway...

The link-up is on the way. Would like to have it up and running by the end of this week, but we're both quite busy at the moment. Will do what I can. Thanks for support.
