Majestic are adding 5* reviews of wines on their website from staff members to offset bad reviews from genuine customers.

After much aggro for a refund and other problems, I have now ceased to buy from them.

Thanks Bacchus.
Such fake news all seems to be the rage today.
I stick to the adage that if I want to buy a tenner then I would like to taste whether it is worth a tenner. If no compliance with this kind of quality control, then I would rather go cheap, or travel to France where tasting is ofter an easier matter than it is over here.
If this persists, then it is double thumbs down for Majestic. Hence the need to make them repent publicly !

That’s a shame to hear.
Must admit ive not bought much from Maj recently but do like visiting my local store where the staff are always friendly and happy to chat wine.
Returns have never been an issue either, with them happy to take back a bottle I’ve opened but not enjoyed.
Only issues I’ve had in the past was around some bargain wines I purchased on a couple of occasions but turned out to be something totally different on their system so ended up with nothing near what I ordered. No issue from them though when I told them I didn’t want them and received refunds immediately.

Truth be told I rarely go by reviews on their site preferring to check on cellar tracker, here or look for professional reviews online. Then again I’m not as adventerous as Bacchus is so some of the wines being tried might not be available on any of the alternative sources

They used to telephone to arrange d/y but the last few they didn't bother.

Last time, I thought the drug squad was forcing an entry. By the time I'd reached the room door he banged again ( about 15 secs) and again as I was going down the stairs. A fourth crashing bang as I reached the front door, and by the time I'd opened it he was heading for next door.

Was also a bit scruffy, I think they are using out-of-house personnel.

I was told to return the bottles (1 opened, 1 not). I quoted their returns policy and was told that I need not do that and that the refund would be done 'no problem'

It took several more e-mails to the branch plus 2 to head office and over 6 weeks before it was processed.
