Further to my recent bargain finds at a local Co-Op, went in this morning and found an additional large stash of de-listed goodies.

The wine that got my immediate attention were six bottles of.- CVNE Imperial Reserva Rioja 2004 at £4.50 a bottle. They are now safely tucked up in the back of my car.

Can anyone advise on the aging capabilities of this wine, have I got myself a keeper or something past its best?

The 2004 vintage for Rioja is said to be 'legendary', if this has been stored suitably I may have just found my deal of a lifetime?

Certainly won't be past its best mate unless baked under store lights
This is a very good wine and fantastic bargain at that price - great find
This will be drinking well now but if we stored should keep another 6 years I'd think
Cracking find sir

My coop still hasn't discounted any in the wines labelled "del" ☹️

Cheers Shezza, yep, quite pleased with those, suspect it'll be a long time before I find a deal like that again.

My cup runneth over at the moment, my local Morrison's has had a major revamp, went in this morning and found a bunch of clearance wines, picked up two bottles of Cloudy Bay Pelerus for £7 a pop. 8)

You have been treated to a wonderful find. Were you able to ask the shop manager how long he had that Rioja in stock. That time in store will be key to your knowing.

A great find - 2004 is a superb vintage and CVNE always use very decent oak.

Thanks Duncan, no I didnt ask the question, I did ask one member to have a look to see if there were anymore but no luck. I have enjoyed one bottle recently, such depth of flavour and still fresh tasting once it had had an airing, some tobacco oak, a touch grainy in texture but I think this is just its complexity coming through.

I dropped by this morning and grabbed 5 bottles of Jim Barry Lodge Hill Riesling 2014, reduced to £4.50 :)
