Aldi have joined the competition for online wine retailers with their wine site
https://www.aldi.co.uk/wines/

My first impressions of the layout/format aren't all that, having viewed it on my phone and everything seems to be available in batches of 6s like tesco & M&S.
I prefer waitrose and asda's single bottle, make your own case approach myself

Ooh goody. A lot more time & skill needed for mix-your own.

Cava at £4 !!!! and Champers at £11 and free d/y. Nice.

A very quick scan of France and without tasting, this appears to be particularly well priced given all the usual attributes.

I wonder why they set the price rather low ? Verging on the to good to be true . . . . .

No research done yet.

I opened a bottle of this last night-

Very impressed, clean and fresh tasting, no great depth but very fresh and enjoyable, will certainly buy again.

GK, thanks for this, you know your Riesling, and that is a confident statement, and for £6.99, its got to be done. I will get in there soon.

Enjoy your week-end

Indeed, sounds promising coming from GK. definitely one to watch out for
While I have a couple of Aldis within a 3 mile radius, they tend to be off route so I rarely get to stop by for a look however a new store is being built in closer proximity this year so I should be able to pay them more of a visit in future

Yeah, I meant to ask that exact question. I've got a few Clare valley Rieslings and I'm not a massive fan of too heavy petrol note which seems to often be the case
The Jacobs creek reserve Riesling had a pretty decent balance in the last one I had. I'm holding on to my remaining bottles to see if there's an evolution process

I'd class this as unleaded-light, easy on the petrol. If fact, it reminded me of the best unoaked chardonnay Ive had in the past. I'm not sure if this is a keeper tho.

I'd be surprised if any of you find it disappointing.

Got one now, and a Gavi from the new store in Clevedon. Seems to have caused the demise of (the quite recent) Morrison's.

Will The 'L' word have to go online in competition as well now ?

Day 2 with a bit of oxydisation renders this (to me) undrinkable. Went down the sink.

I have a weird taste. All reds are horrid, and anything with a vinegar base is disgusting. Curry starts at worcestershire sauce etc. Ho hum.
