I have ordered 5 plus a Villa Maria Wairau Reserve 2013. The VMWR 2014 gets a 94 off Bob.

Nippy out but we're having a picnic in the garden which I have to pay for and organise to make up for getting stuck in a traffic jam on the last Bank Holiday.

The Sautereau Sancerre has crashed in price from £13.99 to £8 to £5. No other wines are being cleared so the signs are not good.

Asda are having some in store clearance offers. I picked up some bacheroy Josselin chablis 1er Cru for £7 but still saw it listed at full price online and in another store
I'll have a look out for this Sancerre

You timed it well Goose. The Sancerre is back up to £13.75 now! Good find

How odd !

It's not as if Asda were advertising the discount to lure people in.

Anyway. The Sancerre is perfect. Dry, light side of medium bodied with classic goosegogs and chalky/nettle finish. The first 2013 Loire sb not to be flinty. Likes to be warm.

Don't we all !

I very nearly went for that at 11:00 pm last night, and would have bought 4 plus 2 x VMWR 2013, i'm sorry that I could not be bothered at the time. I'd just got back from Dorset, after a long walk in the drizzle to the tip of St Albans Head, and a long'ish drive.

Well done you. :)

You missed a good one.

I have just learnt that Sancerre made from grapes grown on ' les caillotes ' soils produce the lighter, drink now, aromatic style that I prefer.

The VM 2014 is in need of a comforting hug and a nice long sleep in a cool place. Wake around 2018. At this stage it tastes just like the Koru Nelson 2014 at Asda.
