Formerly Gaymer's Somerset Gold but rebranded after poor sales probably due to Gaymer's reputation for producing low apple/high sugar content commercial ciders like Magners and Ye Olde English.

Clearly oaked but still sharp, appley and remarkably light bodied. Gorgeous. Step up on Thatchers unoaked Thatchers Gold which is still lovely but nothing like this.

There is also a Chaplin & Cork's 6.8% Reserve which will be richer and I guess oakier. Same price at Tesco but not stocked at Lidl.

This is the old Babycham factory at Sheppun Malle'.

They produce loads of stuff incl. 'K', Special Vat, Natch and Blackthorn.

My local (30 yds) sells proper ciders.

Sounds delicious. Will grab some next time I'm in. However, Sainsbury's have tempted us back with vouchers, so it may be a while.

My local (30 yds) sells proper ciders.

Despite it coming off a Silver Spoon and apple powder production line, this is proper cider. I prefer it to both Weston's and Thatcher's Vintage oaked jobbies. They both taste of apple and tarry oak. This tastes of apple and honeyed oak.

Lovely !

Hosted a neighbourhood cider tasting. Weston's Wyld Wood Organic and Henney's Dry cider are the equal to but not better than Chaplin & Cork's.

Both are 6% and oaked. Henney's is 100% apple juice.....no sugar or artificial sugar.

+1 for the Henney's, probably the best branded cider available.

Often on offer in Waitrose too!

Henney's is £1.25 at Aldi. Seems to be a standard price.

Badger Hopping Hare ale is £1.25 as well.

Shame I've gone off it.

OK, I fell for it. Got some at 3 for £5.
Pleasant enough for a bottled jobby. A bit too sweet pour moi, and a bit wimpy. I like my cider to 'grab' me by the throat'. This is nice and pleasant, I've got wine to fill that niche.

You're such a beast

The Henney's at Aldi is not Henney's dry but Henney's classic. " a superior dry cider '. Same bottle ( apart from a blue cap ) same label design but with subtley different wording.

The alcohol is the same at 6% too.

Tastes dry and lovely but probably not the same as Henney's dry sold at Tesco and Waitrose.

Tasted side by side. Henney's Classic at Aldi is bone dry, gorgeous but with no hint of oak. Henney's Dry is oaked. The oak is more subtle than Weston's giving a lovely honeyed apple richness.

I prefer Henney's dry which is odd for me as I can't handle oak in craft ales or wine.

Ba, have you tried Weston's Wyld Wood. Still, organic, oak aged and staggering beautiful. Intense flavours of apple and wood. £7.25 for a 3l box at Tesco. £6.25 at Asda although my soddin local doesn't stock it. Bottled it's very lightly sparkling and 3 for a fiver at wherever it's sold.

Buy it boxed...if you say it's girlie i'll wear a skirt, an England football shirt and drink babycham

Don't want 3l, but will try the bottled. (I think that I've had it before).

Then will look forward to the skirted Babychamming.
