Oh yeah - Ready for what ? Happy belated New Year to you.

Ba, you may want to look in at STWC / Laithwaites, they have a load of clearance offers, although like everyone, the starting prices before the quoted discount appear to be pretty strong. Prices for fine wines also appear particularly strong, a general wholesale mark-up has been applied, I believe.

a) You've missed the Waitrose clearance with the free bottle of very decent champagne if you bought 11 bottles from the clearance list (code LMWFIZZ) . I was late with that one, the best wines went on the day, before midnight ! Love My Waitrose card holders got the code via email.

b) The free delivery code / voucher for STWC is FREEDEL, it is good until midnight Saturday, you have to buy 12 before the voucher works, some of the wines can be bought in smaller quantities, and there were one or two single bottle errors versus 6. The popular stuff though, is 6 at a time, which is a nuisance when you don't know the wines.

Have you seen any clearance at your large Co-Op stores ?

Marks & Spencer have some 40% per case reductions, their new world unoaked chardonnays look a damn site more tasty and comforting than "modern over cropped young vine gum puckering under ripe SB " The good MSBs from correct terroir will be expensive for ever more, they have us, exactly where they want us now  .

You may have to use previous articles here to judge the styles of these M&S offers, I notice those chardonnays are 2011, yet even unoaked NW chardonnay keeps well, and could improve.

Deals do seem rather thin for January.
