Anyone done this. New in at my Tesco Superstore, £10.99 on the shelf before multiple discounts. That is a very keen starting price for an oaked CO pinot noir.

Same wide bottle & livery as the single vineyard Claim 431 cuvee' for 2012 ! which was $35 NZ dollars for the 2012. Can't be the same wine, but looks to be an intermediate, one notch up from the basic at Majestic ?

"When the grapes for this Pinot Noir reached optimal ripeness they were hand harvested then gently destemmed. After a week long cold soak, each parcel was fermented using indigenous yeast and hand plunged to extract vibrant colour, flavour and delicate tannin structure. The wine was then separately pressed into a mix of new and old French oak barrels to mature for 12 months. Natural malolactic fermentation began at the beginning of spring".

Ben Glover's 2nd year in charge at this Central Otego PN operation, the article says. Another review says that the 2013 CO pinot noir wines are made by Nadine Worley. Bob Campbell respects the expensive MH pinots.

Tasting is essential to see if it's got something more than the usual CO NZ in this QPR bracket.

No mention of C Otago, but could this be it?

Mud House Pinot Noir 2013 £10.49
Pinot Noir 100%
Residual Sugar 2.9g/l
Alcohol 13.5 %
329 stores
Lovely pinot nose and palate. This is a great price for this level of varietal character. Nice.
