Has anyone tasted this. Before I splash out is it in the Awatere style like most of Villa Maria's expensive offerings or is it more in the Wairau style........and is it rich and leesy/oaky or light and concentrated.

Olly's tasting note for this is a waste of space.....bit like all of his tasting notes most of which seem to be written for people who care more for the recommendation than the wine.

I have a suspicion that Duncan has given this a go

Shez, you're right, I have bought a pair, and mine were recently moved to the wine cooler, because it became warm in my storage area for a few days.

I'm sorry Goose, I can't give you a TN. In my view the more complex 2013's are not / may not be ready, so I'm holding back for a while. The cheap thirteens have been disappointing, so I'm waiting. VM Cellar Selection '13 was only marginally better than OK, but too spritzy.

I also found the 2013 Avery vineyard, Craggy R, a bit of a yawn (best quite warm), but for different reasons, so if you beat me to it, I hope it satisfies. For some reason my palate is not responding to MSB pleasure ? So I'm holding this back as well as the recent Clifford Bay 2013 acquisition. I have good stocks of VM Taylors Pass '12 and VM Wairau Reserve '12 and I'm not drinking them either at the mo.

Sorry G, wish I could say either way, cheers for now.

This is a much praised wine but there are no specific tasting notes. I do not want to pay for Awatere tomato leaf. Best of the bunch though Villa Maria's Clifford Bay is I doubt if I will drink it again.

I have treated myself to Henri Bourgeois' Petit Bourgeois 2013. I think 50% of the grapes are Sancerre and 50% from the wider Loire. This wine oft beats other producers top Sancerre in taste offs.

Also 2012 Villa Maria Wairau Reserve which I hope will be spot on lovely now. And Cailbourdin's Pouilly Fume les Cornets 2011. I had half a glass somewhere last year. It was lovely.

Ta for the replies.
