I've seen them in one store so far bit not looked out for them in others
Tempted to use some double up clubcard vouchers but think the 2 Bordeaux sound pretty expensive especially on 2008 vintage when Pontonsac 2009 is available at the same price
The SA cab is tempting though

Yep, popped up this am. Also free delivery from the wine-by-the-case site.
I got 6 asst from the general grocery site with a few non-bike friendly bits and pieces and had a £4 voucher to reduce the total further.

Free delivery until 22nd December- I dont recall Tesco ever running a free delivery promo for a solid month before, I sense fierce competition from the retailers to win the Christmas trade 8)

Yes, it is sell, sell sell for Big T, and consider pretty minor operating overheads after the job is done. I suppose the small players will get hurt in the cross fire. Whether that changes anything for the John Lewis group is only to be heard about after the big day. Sainsbury moved into the second spot at the end of September (Asda wines are not particulary sought after in the middle class growth market) Majestic have been delivering free for a long time. It was reported that Warren Buffet sold his huge shareholding earlier in the year, whether he has bought them back at a lower price in smaller parcels is not in the headlines.

Quite good news for consumers, not such good news for pension funds, same scenario with the big enegy providers. How many shoppers actualy put their weekly savings into their future and their retirement ? Just saying.

My dear Misses likes to see what she is buying, likes going out to do the shopping. Wine online and free delivery is easier, the look of the label and the bottle shape do not indicate quality ! - Simple stuff really

I find it annoying that you have to but 2 cases online now to qualify for the 25% off at TWbtC
They sent a new wine magazine this week with £5 off voucher lasting until 22nd Dec
Doubt I'll be using it though unless I get something on the co buy site

For those interested though the vina pomal crianza is reduced to £45 for 6 then add the 25% off = £33.75 for 6 (minus £5 if you have a voucher - give me a shout if you haven't got one)

Bacchus,
I'm drinking the Colpasso Fiano tonight ("50% off" £6.50 online) Think you'd like this sir. Fruity and honeyed. Reminds me a bit of Torrontes

Roger that. Will look in a couple of stores.

One of the most celebrated winemaking consultants in Italy, Stefano Chioccioli, is finally making his own wine.

Encouraged and inspired by his wife Anna, Chioccioli put his 25+ years of experience to create the AltaDonna winery – the name a tribute to Anna.

Titled as both an agronomist and enologist, Chioccioli has made wine in nearly every region of Italy, for estates such as Ruffino, Tua Rita, Livio Felluga, F.illi Barba, Villa Cafaggio – to name a few. As a consultant, his wines have achieved more 90-point scores than any other Italian winemaker.

“Stefano is a living legend,” says Don Opici, Managing Director of Opici Wines, the exclusive US importer of AltaDonna. “We are thrilled to add his wines to our Italian portfolio.”

After making so many great wines for others, it was time for Stefano to make wines for himself and his family. He is leveraging his extensive contacts and knowledge of all the top vineyards throughout Italy to source grapes, and is assisting his 24-year-old son Niccoló — also an enologist — with the winemaking.

The first releases from AltaDonna include Grillo and Nero d’Avola from Sicily; Pinot Grigio from Friuli-Venezia-Giulia; Pinot Nero (Pinot Noir) from Lombardy; and Vermentino and Sangiovese from Tuscany. Each wine type is adorned with a different brightly colored label, which includes a cut-out cameo/silhouette of Anna and designed after a classic postage stamp used in Italy in the 1950s and 1960

Well 2008 was a decent year for Chablis so I'd think a PC should be holding out but the Tesco WbtC site has 2010 vintage listed (another goodun for Chablis)
I picked up a couple of 2008 Billaud-simon chablis PC from co-op recently so I hope they are holding up well

viewtopic.php?f=5&t=7473&p=21070&hilit=tesco+finest+chablis+premier+cru+2008#p21070

Ba, I did this 15 months ago. I have drunk all my 2008 chablis premier cru because I detected a decline in fruit. The wine is entering a step change in its personality, which I may appreciate for a while, but not mature flavours that I think you will particularly enjoy.

The wine is moving into a 4/5 year old St Romain blanc profile (sans light oak), that you said had a band aide (plaster for cuts) note that you did not appreciate at all. The mnerality will be there, but an old stacked hay flavour may be creeping in. Tesco may have stored this super cool, which could be OK, or found parcels of it lying around in their warehouse, which will be more advanced I suspect.

The 2010 vintage is their current offering, and a good vintage. 2008 was a good C PC vintage for minerality, but whether this is still holding the fullish fruit that accompanies that style at 1er level, is quite a gamble.

Try a glass, if you don't like the flavour, you will have to return the wine, saying that the flavour has evolved to one that you did not buy into. They will not quibble with that. 5 years is a biggish ask for a supermarket premier cru, particularly if not stored in the dark and around 8 degrees C.

Don't weaken at customer services, if you don't like the matured and evolved flavour......OK.

Just found another of these 08's (in the wrong slot). A wee bit chalky, yeasty but quite acceptable. Still needs to be a little bit warm. Yeah, enjoyable 6 yrs old.
