Oh yes. Weeks and weeks of age. Also based on the news that a £5 bottle has 20p worth of wine in it...you will only get minus 30p worth and so a further 30p rebate (allegedly). If you're opening a few of the whites that you mention, I can be there in about 4 mins on the new bike. |

Richard, You've been naughty again As a matter of urgency, you need to drink the Latour Meursault-Blagny 1er Cru Château de Blagny 2001. I'd put an over age caution on this wine, However, you might just have got away with it, because you have a very good and cool cellar. The 2001 Savigny is a rouge - but drink up please. If you really like this friend, and your '01 Meursault tastes well past its best, then treat him to the '05 Chassagne, Bruno Colin is a decent producer and 2005 made wonderful white burgundy wines. Drink up the '09 Ligny chablis by Christmas - Please. There is no oak in that, and they are acquiring hay, and going soapy.... when the sileage develops it will be a watery dry sherry with no guts. The '02 Brouilly (100% gamay) should have been drunk by 2008/9 ! it does not hold like Morgon. Morgon at over 10 years is a big ask for a top jolly beau vintage. The Naudin Savigny '01 is very ready. 2001 cotes de Beaune rouge wines are generally early maturing wines, a successful vintage though. Savigny can have more power/weight than ordinary Beaune, but drink-up You are a naughty boy - yes I know, You can't drink them on your own ! so Friday night treats should be lined up, staying in with home grown luxuries, is the new going out ! Anything else - about burgundy aging ? Enjoy your Saturday night dinner. Let Ba in (on account of my Burg advice), if it's stair rods rain and wind, by the back door if his leathers are soaking. |

Dunc, Hi, will chill the Latour Meursault as I remember this being rather good 4-5 years ago. Will have these two in reserve in the downstairs fridge just in case, 2005 Bruno Colin 2011 Bouchot-Ludot Chardonnay Chablis. I have this listed as a white wine below not red ?? Have I entered it under the wrong name/wine as I know its white in colour ?? The Naudin Savigny '01 is very ready. 2001 cotes de Beaune rouge wines are generally early maturing wines, a successful vintage though. Savigny can have more power/weight than ordinary Beaune, but drink-up. Thanks for the heads up as usual Dunc, and I know I must drink some decent wines on my own once in a while. |

Rich No - Probably my mistake, Savigny blanc is not normally available in the uk at the stockists that I've seen. Yet I note from his web site that the domaine runs three pacels of Savigny blanc and rouge. Did you buy in France ? http://www.doudet-naudin.fr/index-uk.html The Savigny monopoles, climats, Lieux dits and cru wines are always rouge in the UK. Savigny 1er rouge is underated, can be a weighty beaune. Firmer than Chassagne and Chorey rouge. Beaune blancs on the 2001 are not long keepers. Early drinking I'm affraid - you know what you must do. Hope it's survived. Please put the '01 Savigny blanc in the fridge as back-up, and take out the very recent Bouchot-Ludot chablis cheers |

Dunc, I am guessing but probably bought in France or a gift maybe. Will also chill this one and might open tonight and check a glass out. I have a couple of reds on standby but never had 4 wines to cover one bottle before !! I should just pick a nice Kabinett which I know will be spot on but he likes burgs. |

Blimey Richard. How many friends have you got coming ?! Did I see you use singular?? That's quite a line up! Sounds like a very enjoyable night ahead Duncan has most knowledge of the burgs but I would echo him in saying to drink up the 2001s and the 2002 brouilly |

Sheeza, Hi, four of us in total just two couples. My wife doesn`t drink red wine though, which is a real downer as I cant get a second opinion etc. I like to be organised and would rather have more bottles ready than not. All reds were bought up last night to settle down. Should be fun and a hang over on Sunday though as my reward |

Chaps, Just to say the 2001 M. Doudet-Naudin Savigny-lès-Beaune drank really well. The nose was rather interesting Pete didnt like it though, palate was a little nutty but very good indeed. The reds were good the CNDP was amazing plenty of layers and silky smooth. As usual NADA was singing this was my first experience of his standard Langhe Nebbiolo wine. Moet was good but didn`t float my boat saying that not many do. Rather large hangover on Sunday though. |
