In store the deal is any 4 'Finest'...if you can stand the deafening, mindless carol attack. I can't, even wearing earplugs. Turned round within seconds and went elsewhere.

Shez,
While you're there, you may want to look for the TF 2010 Chablis premier cru, the bottler needs to be the Union of Chablis viticulteurs, this wine is performing very well at the mo, with excellent minerality. Dont worry about the initial and very mild cut hay note, this dissipates with decanting, and / or is not present on day 2. The chardonnay fruit is mature, I think this wine has another year - IF you have a wine cooler. Otherwise enjoy a few bottles over Christmas and the early spring. I found some on the double dip when I was boosting last time, and cleared the remaining four on the shelf. I won't say how little I paid, it would be offensive to the readers here. The Store managers are clearing older stock.

There is another producer ( Jean Claude Fromont) who I've been avoiding, due to sulphur in the 2008 vintage, that I could not shake out, and a soapy 2009 offering. The erratic and variable reviews on the Tesco web site have been muddling them up. I can't say, confirm, or otherwise evaluate the current JCF vintage which is also 2010 on the web site.

Chateau Fonreaud '09 Listrac is on offer, Jancis likes it a lot, a fail safe vintage for Moulis & Listrac. Is it in the stores ? Worth checking though, just to make sure.

If you see any Chateauneuf on the old TF mustard coloured label and vintage 2010, that is the one you want, same also for the Gigondas, on the old TF label, and vintage 2010.

Ba - Tesco is sticky, gooey and tacky kiddyfied at Xmas - you should know better, than to go there during the day ! At Midnight you may be able to ask security to turn that awfull noise off. I feel very sorry for the Mums with young children who have little or no real money to spend at Christmas. Horrendous emotional blackmail for poor families at this time.

Cheers

edited for a silly typo

Hi Duncan
I am hoping to give the new Ribera del Duero reserva a bash. Hopefully better than the previous RdD offering Tesco had

Fort du Roi Chablis is 'half price' again. Not 'finest' but still worth a go.

Shez,
Here's hoping, I don't know it. Laithwaites were teasing with a RdD, but I didn't.

I'm still kicking myself for not taking that '09 Antonin Guyon (spelling) Chorey-les-Beaune from Marks last year. A. Guyon is a proper grower.

Good, yet affordable Beaune very thin on the ground in the supermarkets this year - everywhere.

I'm drinking that very rich Chateau du Courneau '09 this evening (Marks), day 2 and the merlot dominance is quite lush - Nice :) Yeah, a rich claret at this price ! A great merlot vintage (unusual) for petite chateau on the left bank ! I think the grower made a big effort, because the cab is also ready, and merlot comes a bit early on the left bank for the cab. Quaffing claret, no less..... sweet vanilla on the finish. This is maturing very well - not a long keeper though.
