Post subject:  Domaine de Dionysos 2010 Cairanne “La Cigalette” CdRV

I'm drinking this wine on a warm evening in the garden. Open and allow this wine to blossom in our brief mediteranean climate this week.

One of the most enjoyable Cairanne wines I've drunk in 35 plus years of Rhone sampling. This 2010 is just ready and with a decent airing, very willing.

Beautiful, correct and lovely hot stones (galets roule's on clay lime marl) Rhone nose, full figured and fleshy, deep magenta with ruby rim, ripe black cherry, lovely french oak, liquorice and pipe tobacco and sweet spice, plus decent length. Yes, from Laithwaites on a Rhone special and about £9 -10 per bottle, some months ago.
The quality of these '09 and '10 southern Rhone wines from small / boutique producers is truly remarkable. 23 acre vineyard, vines 35 - 50+ years they say
14.5 alc may be too hot indoors, but swirled in the glass, it is dissipated a bit and for the sake of the wine's goodness and richness overall, it is forgiven. Enough tannin and acidity to prop-up the whole thing.

I can't put a star up, because only 150 or so cases may have been imported into the UK, and you may only find a few bottles in the Theale shop, or in the London store as leftovers.

Very lovely stuff, and damn good value...yum.

"Night Train" on cellar tracker has discovered that this Cairanne is now drinking very well. More of this wine is available in the States.
